Following Nottingham Forest’s play-off final victory over Huddersfield Town, the 20-team Premier League line-up is complete for next season. But how will the promoted sides fare in the big time?

Alongside Forest, Fulham and Bournemouth are back in the Premier League after gaining automatic promotion. Can Fulham, Bournemouth and Forest avoid immediate relegation next term?

• Fulham

Fulham clinched the Championship title, winning 27 of their 46 games. As a result, they finished two points ahead of second-place Bournemouth and eight points inside the automatic promotion spots.

Believe it or not, the Cottagers scored a whopping 106 goals last season – 32 more than Bournemouth. Aleksandar Mitrovic netted 43 goals in 44 outings, while Harry Wilson chipped in with ten goals and 20 assists.

Fulham have been something of a yo-yo club in recent years, gaining three promotions and suffering two relegations in the past five seasons. Naturally, their main aim must be to cement their status as a top-flight team.

• Bournemouth

Bournemouth are back in the Premier League following a two-year absence, having suffered relegation in 2020 after a five-season stay in the top flight. Like Fulham, the Cherries will be eager to avoid the drop.

Under the guidance of ex-Fulham manager Scott Parker, Bournemouth lost just eight of their 46 league games last term – suffering the fewest number of defeats. They also achieved the best defensive record.

While Fulham have Mitrovic, Bournemouth have Dominic Solanke. The former Chelsea and Liverpool striker bagged 29 goals and seven assists last season, signaling that he is ready for the Premier League.

• Nottingham Forest

Forest’s 23-year absence from the Premier League is finally over. The two-time European Cup winners are back in the big time – and they will be hoping to re-establish themselves as one of England’s top clubs.

After losing six of their first seven games last term, the Tricky Trees found themselves bottom of the Championship in September. But when Steve Cooper replaced Chris Hughton, everything changed.

Forest have been immense under Cooper and were even pushing for automatic promotion after notching a run of nine wins in ten games across March and April. If they can pick up where they left off last season, they could upset the odds next year.
