The race for the Scudetto in Italy has been enthralling. At one point Napoli, Inter and Milan were all fighting it out.

However, this weekend sees the conclusion of the 2021/22 campaign, with just the two Milan clubs in contention to be crowned Italian champions.

There are just two points between leaders Milan and arch-rivals Inter. It is advantage to the Rossoneri though, as Stefano Pioli’s team only needs a draw from their trip to Sassuolo, as they have the superior head-to-head record.

Inter can beat Sampdoria at the Giuseppe Meazza and it may not mean anything if Milan gets the draw they need.

Winning the Serie A title this season would be a major achievement for one of Italian football's most historic and famous clubs.

It would be their first title win since season 2010/11, also their 19th in total, bringing them level with their arch-rivals Inter in domestic titles.

However, a mixture of grit, quality and some luck along the way has the Rossoneri well placed to claim their first title in over a decade.

Of course, Milan could still lose to Sassuolo, who have a habit of pulling off big results. However, the odds are in favour of Pioli’s team going to the MAPEI Stadium and picking up something from the game.

Last season Milan finished 12 points behind Inter, who comfortably claimed the Scudetto.

Not many would have thought at the start of the season that Milan would have been able to challenge the reigning champions so well in the current season.

However, it seems that Stefano Pioli’s team are about to write their name into Serie A and Milan folklore. The victory will taste even sweeter as it is at the expense of arch-rivals Internazionale.
