Nolito can be a big hit at Manchester City

Manuel Agudo Duran, or Nolito as most football fans know him, was a late developer on the football scene. The 29-year-old only joined a top-level team at the age of 20. His first top-flight club was Spanish giants Barcelona.

He struggled to make an impact for the Catalan giants, making just two La Liga appearances. He enjoyed slightly more success at Portuguese club Benfica, before moving back to Spain in 2013 with Celta Vigo.

It was at the age of 26 that Nolito finally found his form at the top level. He enjoyed three years of goals and assists at Celta. His performances led to reported interest from all over Europe, with the likes of Arsenal mooted as potential suitors for the winger.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola moved quickly to sign the 29-year-old Spanish international this summer for a fee of around £13.8million. Former club Barcelona looked like his next stop for much of last season, but he snubbed a move back to his old club in favour of a move to Manchester.

One of the reasons for choosing the Citizens was that he will play regularly for City. The winger has been highly consistent at Celta over the past three seasons from his wide position.

His good form in previous campaigns could see him hit the ground running with the Citizens. He has major competition for a wide position at City. However, the Spain international would not have moved to City if he were not assured that he would be playing first team football next season.

The club from Manchester have spent big in the past, but the £13.8million the Citizens paid for the former Celta Vigo star could be money well spent.
