Hal Robson-Kanu could struggle in the Premier League
Wales international Hal Robson-Kanu went into Euro 2016 as player with no club, but finished it as a Welsh hero with the Dragons reaching the semi-finals at their European Championships debut.
The striker’s contribution to Wales efforts will be best remembered for a fantastic goal in the 3-1 win over Belgium, when he produced a sublime Cruyff turn to wrong-foot three defenders before slotting past Chelsea ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois.
The goal raised the forwards profile worldwide and apparently there is interest from clubs far and wide in signing the forward, including teams from the English Premier League.
Hull City boss Steve Bruce has revealed the Tigers are set to hold talks with the forward. Other clubs such as Everton and Burnley have also been linked with the forward.
The 27-year-old had plied his trade at Reading for his whole career, although he did enjoy short loans spell at Swindon and Southend earlier in his career. In 12 years his scoring record is not great for the Royals, as he has scored just 30 times in 200 appearances, most of which have come in the second tier.
Robson-Kanu chose to run his contract down with the Royals in an attempt to further his career and that sublime goal at the Euros could certainly help his cause.
His scoring record may not be impressive, but for the most part of his career Robson-Kanu has played as a winger. As Euro 2016 has proven teams may well get more out of him when he plays as a central striker.
One moment of brilliance should not be the basis on which a player is judged. If the forward does get a move to the Premier League he goes on to prove to have a decent career in the English top-flight.
