Antoine Griezmann proven his class at Euro 2016

Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann scored a brace in France’s 2-0 win over Germany in the Euro 2016 semi-finals. The 25-year-old opened the scoring from the penalty spot in first half stoppage-time, before scoring his second goal of the game on 72 minutes.

Griezmann has now scored six goals at Euro 2016 and is now the favourite to claim the Golden Boot award on home soil. The highly-rated star is now three points clear of Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, who he Griezmann will face in Sunday’s final in Paris.

The striker met Ronaldo just a few months ago in Atletico Madrid’s heart-breaking defeat against Real Madrid in the Champions League defeat. That night Griezmann missed a penalty kick in normal time, only to score in the penalty shoot-out, which Los Blancos eventually won.

This time around Griezmann will be on the side of the favourites, as Les Bleus have beaten Portugal in the last ten meetings of the two teams. The game will be another chance for the Atleti striker to underline his class once again.

He was expected to be prolific on home soil after another stellar campaign for Atletico Madrid and he has not disappointed.

While much of the attention will be on Ronaldo and his performance, Griezmann is probably just as likely to be the match-winner, if not more likely to shine in the competition’s finale.

The 25-year-old may never be considered in the same class as Ronaldo, who has achieved immense success throughout his career. However, the striker is bang in form and has proven that he is the man for the big occasion.

It will be highly surprising if the highly-rated striker does not have a big say in Sunday and this time be on the winning side against Ronaldo.
