Pep Guardiola already having a big impact at Manchester City

According to reports from the media, Manchester City are close to agreeing a deal with Bundesliga giants Dortmund for the big money transfer of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The 26-year-old star has been prolific in the German top-flight over the past few seasons, scoring 25 goals in the Bundesliga 29 appearances.

New City boss Pep Guardiola has lost no time in attempting to strengthen his squad by bringing in midfield Ilkay Gundogan from Dortmund and also making a move for Aubameyang.

The prospect of Aubameyang partnering Argentinian star Sergio Aguero up front next season for City is a mouth-watering one. Both strikers are highly clinical in front of goal and a team with the pair together promises exciting times ahead for City fans.

City have spent big in the transfer market in recent times in attempt to break into the elite of European football. However, last season the Citizens finished fourth in the Premier League, only above rivals Manchester United on goal difference.

City at times lacked firepower up front last season, especially on their travels. The prospective of signing Aubameyang should put that right and give the Citizens an extra dimension in attack.

Aubameyang is unlikely to be the last big money signing for the Citizens, as former-Barcelona boss Guardiola looks to create a team capable of winning the Premier League and eventually the Champions League.

Manchester City have not progressed in the last few seasons. In fact it could be argued they went backwards last season. There is no doubt that there will be an improvement in City over the next couple of years and capturing Guardiola was a major coup for the Citizens.
