5 young players to watch at Euro 2020

Every time a major tournament comes around, a new young star is born. But right now, it feels like there are tons of up-and-coming players ready to shine on the international stage.

Here are five young players to watch at Euro 2020.

• Phil Foden – England

It is easy to forget that Phil Foden is still only 21. After all, the Manchester City midfielder already has three Premier League titles to his name, along with a host of other honours.

Best known for his unrivalled balance and vision, Foden finished as Man City’s second-highest scorer last season – bagging 16 goals and ten assists in all competitions.

• Pedri – Spain

At just 18 years of age, Pedri racked up 52 appearances for Barcelona last term – notching four goals and six assists along the way. But he offers so much more than goals and assists.

The busy midfielder's relentless work rate invariably sees him cover more ground than any other player on the pitch. Even at such a young age, he looks set to play a key role for Spain this summer.

• Ryan Gravenberch – Netherlands

Ajax’s famed academy is renowned for producing world-class talent. If Ryan Gravenberch’s early-career form is anything to go by, the Dutch giants have another gem on their hands.

Only one Ajax player – Dusan Tadic – made more appearances than Gravenberch last season. Widely regarded as the next Paul Pogba, the 19-year-old is destined to go far.

• Jamal Musiala – Germany

Although he only turned 18 in February, Jamal Musiala played 39 times for Bayern Munich last term – scoring seven goals on his way to lifting the Bundesliga trophy.

The former England U21 international pledged his allegiance to Germany just days before his eighteenth birthday and hasn’t looked back since. He is definitely one to watch at Euro 2020.

• Jude Bellingham – England

Jude Bellingham was only 12 during the previous European Championship back in 2016. Fast-forward to today, and the Borussia Dortmund midfielder is one of England’s key players.

The teenage sensation chalked up four goals and four assists in 46 appearances for Dortmund in 2020/21, underlining his importance to the team – even at such a young age.
