Talent Scout: Asian & Central American Wonderkids
2053

Continuing our Talent Scout series, this week Forebet combines scouting knowledge from across Asia and Central America to bring you some of the teenage prospects from these areas.

Central America has produced some fantastic players over the years such as Bryan Ruiz, Christian Pulisic, Carlos Vela, Andres Guardado, Landon Donovan, Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Dwight Yorke, Rafael Marquez, and Hugo Sanchez. The latter three from that list reached world-class status during their careers, but not enough wonderkids from this area of the world fore fill their true potential.

There have been some fantastic players that have come from Asia such as Ali Daei, Sami Al Jaber, Keisuke Honda, Tim Cahill, Park Ji-sung, Shinji Kagawa, Hidetoshi Nakata, Cha Bum-kun, and Son Heung-min. However, this region of the world is yet to produce a true world-beater, a player that ranks alongside the likes of Messi and Ronaldo. Our list of wonderkids from Asia and Central America begins with a Manchester City player.

1. Alexander Robertson – born in Australia and coming from a background of professional footballers, Robertson is a midfielder that is good with both feet and scores goals, but injuries have held him back somewhat. Although born in Sydney, Robertson has played for England at U17 level, the Aussie’s need to keep this prospect sweet if they want to keep hold of this future star.

2. Jia Boyan – the Shanghai SIPG striker, netted 17-goals in the U15s championships back in 2018, bringing him to the attention of many a European scout. Boyan is skilful and fast, able to play on the wing as well as a traditional No.9. The youngster has always featured in the Chinese Super League and carries the weight of an entire nation on his shoulders.

3. Bikash Yumnam – most of you won’t be able to name a single Indian international player as the country has failed to produce any household names over the years. However, young Punjab FC defender Yumnam is a composed, ball-playing centre-back that possesses an impressive, and dangerous, long throw-in. Bikash has already received offers from ‘bigger’ clubs in India and is expected to be playing for the senior international side very soon.

4. Takuhiro Nakai – Nakai plays for Real Madrid and is seen as a playmaking midfielder with plenty of flair. Having joined the Spanish giants at a very early age, Takuhiro is well versed in the European style of football and is already training with the first-team.

5. Luis Puente – this Mexican striker, who idolises the Brazilian Ronaldo, has impressed for Chivas at all levels. Good with both feet and very powerful, this young striker has a scoring record of almost a goal a game and is expected to have a long and successful career.

6. Moses Nyeman – is the next big hope for USA football. Born in Liberia, the young midfielder could still represent his home country but is also able to play for the USA. The DC United box-to-box midfielder has already trained with Borussia Dortmund and is no doubt on the radars of other top European sides.
