Sporting Kansas to grab the points over Houston Dynamo
Sporting Kansas City vs Houston Dynamo - 30/05/2021
2047
Saturday evening features an all-Western Conference match-up in the American MLS between Sporting Kansas and Houston Dynamo at the Children's Mercy Park with both teams occupying the top seven of the division, sitting 2nd and 4th respectively.
Sporting Kansas will be seeking a third win on the trot following recent back-to-back wins against Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0 at home and a 3-1 win on the road at San Jose Earthquakes, which has lifted the hosts up into 2nd spot and four points behind the Conference leaders, Seattle Sounders.
Although Kansas have produced some mixed results of late, losing to the likes of Real Salt Lake and Saturday’s opponents, Houston Dynamo, in 3-1 and 1-0 defeats, both of these losses were incurred on their travels.
At their Children's Mercy Park however, Sporting Kansas still remain unbeaten as the hosts were held 1-1 by Orlando City before winning back-to-back home games against Austin and Vancouver Whitecaps in 2-1 and 3-0 victories.
Houston Dynamo occupy 4th place on the Western Conference ladder which is largely thanks to their encouraging results and performances on home turf at their BBVA Stadium, where the Dynamo’s have won three and drawn one of their opening four home games of this new MLS season.
However, when looking at Houston’s previous results over time, it quickly becomes apparent that the large majority of Houston Dynamo’s successes in recent times have been achieved at home, while gaining results on the road continue to be a concern for the visitors.
Houston Dynamo have managed to collect just the one away win out of their last 23 matches on their travels, which, ironically, came in the shape of a 5-2 win at Sporting Kansas, but this was back in August of last year and this appears to be the exception rather than the rule.
Within this poor 23-match sequence away from home though are also 16 defeats and even more damning is the fact that Houston have failed to keep a clean sheet during this poor period of results on the road.
Sporting Kansas have lost just one of their last eight meetings at home against Houston Dynamo’s and the hosts look set for further success here, especially considering Houston’s poor results away from home.
