AC Milan to cement top four spot with win at Torino
2931

Torino picked up a valuable point on the weekend with a 1-1 draw away from home at Hellas Verona but although the hosts have suffered just the one defeat out of their last seven matches overall in Serie A, Torino are not out of the woods yet and they face a tough task on Wednesday night.

Torino’s one loss during recent weeks was a 2-0 loss at home to Napoli but the hosts have kept their heads above water with recent wins against Udinese, a struggling Roma outfit and Parma, but nevertheless, this upcoming visit by AC Milan is expected to give Torino a tough test.

Form and results on home turf at their Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino has seen Torino put up stubborn resistance as the hosts have lost just two of their last 11 matches in their own backyard but these have been against top four opposition in the shape of Inter Milan and Napoli.

Torino are also expected to be without defenders, N’Koulou (suspended) and Murru (muscle injury) for this upcoming clash against 3rd placed AC Milan.

Onto AC Milan then, and the visitors will be seeking a third league win on the trot in Serie A as Stefan Pioli’s side look to further strengthen their position in the top four and press home their claims for Champions League football for next season.

Recent back-to-back defeats against Sassuolo and Lazio had threatened to spoil AC Milan’s hopes of a top four finish but the visitors have duly bounced back by recording vital victories over Benevento and most impressive of all, a 3-0 win away from home against Juventus, which was almost worth six points in the current situation.

Juventus trail AC Milan by a three-point margin and are AC Milan’s biggest threat in terms of denying AC Milan a spot in next season’s Champions League, so that win on the road was an enormous victory in the scheme of things.

AC Milan possess the best away record as well in Serie A as they’ve won 14 of their 17 matches to date on their travels this season and they head into Wednesday’s clash on the back of five wins out of their last six on the road.

The visitors will be without midfielder Saelemaekers (suspended) while forward Ibrahimovic is doubtful with a knee injury.

AC Milan look the more likely to find a way to win here than Torino though.
