Chelsea tipped to dispatch Arsenal and enhance top-four hopes

Chelsea will be looking for further cement their place in the top four when Arsenal visit Stamford Bridge for an all-London midweek Premier League clash on Wednesday.

A five-match unbeaten run, including three straight wins, has seen Chelsea move up to third in the table – one point ahead of Leicester and six points clear of fifth-place West Ham.

On the flip side, Arsenal find themselves ninth in the standing – four points outside the top seven and 11 points shy of the top four.

Chelsea extended their impressive run by sealing an eye-catching comeback victory over Manchester City on Saturday.

Raheem Sterling gave the soon-to-be Premier League champions the lead just before half-time, before Sergio Aguero fluffed a penalty.

But second-half strikes from Hakim Ziyech and Marcos Alonso saw the Blues come from behind and claim all three points at the Etihad Stadium.

Looking at the bigger picture, Chelsea have only lost three of their previous 27 matches in all competitions.

Better still, they are currently enjoying a seven-game unbeaten streak at Stamford Bridge and have kept four straight clean sheets at home.

Meanwhile, Arsenal sealed a much-needed 3-1 victory over West Brom on Sunday, having been knocked out of the Europa League semi-finals by Villarreal last week.

Goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Nicolas Pepe and Willian sealed the deal and ensured that West Brom were relegated to the Championship.

Following a 2-0 win against Newcastle two weekends ago, the Gunners have secure back-to-back league wins for the first time since January.

Mikel Arteta’s men can take confidence from the fact that they have only lost one of their last nine away games in all competitions.

Having said that, there is absolutely no denying that Arsenal are not where they want to be at the moment.

Head-to-head: Funnily enough, Arsenal went unbeaten against Chelsea in 2020, securing two wins and one draw along the way.

Chelsea have only managed to win two of their last six meetings with the Gunners in all competitions, although Thomas Tuchel’s men head into Wednesday’s clash as firm favourites.

Team news: Chelsea currently have two injury doubts, with Andreas Christensen and Mateo Kovacic on the treatment table.

As for Arsenal, Emile Smith Rowe, Pablo Mari and David Luiz are all doubts, while Granit Xhaka is ruled out with a groin strain.

The Gunners have enjoyed some success against the Blues in recent years, but in-form Chelsea are likely to gain their revenge on Wednesday.

Forebet predicts that Chelsea will score over 2.5 goals on their way to beating Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
