Stuttgart aim to end four-match losing streak against Augsburg
5144

Stuttgart go into matchday 32 of the Bundesliga season on a four-match losing streak. The Swabians are struggling at the end of the season, but are safe from relegation with 39 points from 31 games.

The same cannot be said about Augsburg, who are just four points above the relegation three. Koln have Augsburg in their sights with a four-point gap between the clubs.

Hertha Berlin have two games in hand and are the wild card after having games postponed. They are 17th in the standings.

Neither of these teams go into the game in form. Stuttgart took three points from their last 18 on offer. They were outscored 14-5. Meanwhile, Augsburg took just four points from the last 18 available, scoring four times and conceding nine times.

Stuttgart and Augsburg have met 15 times since the 2011-12 Bundesliga season. The Swabians are unbeaten in seven of those 15 games. That includes the reverse fixture played at the Augsburg Arena.

Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo watched the side run out to a 4-1 win away from home. Stuttgart were up 2-0 by the halftime break thanks to goals from Nicolas Gonzalez (penalty) and Silas Wamangituka.

Augsburg made a brief comeback in the 46th minute as Marco Ritcher scored, but Stuttgart added two more goals thanks to Gonzalo Castro and Daniel Didavi.

The fixture between the Bundesliga rivals was their first meeting since the 2018-19 campaign.

Stuttgart are without Wamangituka due to a knee injury. Orel Mangala is also out of action due to injury. According to reports, Gonzalez is unlikely to make the squad while Borna Sosa is expected to miss with an ankle injury.

Midfielder Rani Khedira is unlikely to make the Augsburg squad to for the match due to a lack of match fitness. Defender Felix Uduokhai is also a doubt for the match due to an injury.

Stuttgart are on a two-match losing streak at home, but did go unbeaten in four straight games at the Mercedes-Benz Arena prior to dropping those fixtures.

Augsburg have lost four straight fixtures away from home. It is their away form that could cost them their Bundesliga status.

The Swabians may be struggling to win games but should make it two wins from two against Augsburg this season.

Fuggerstädter may go down to the final day of the season to determine their Bundesliga status. Like the previous match, expect over 2.5 goals and both sides to score.
