Goals likely in clash between Hertha Berlin and Freiburg

Hertha Berlin grabbed a decent point away from home on Monday night in a 1-1 draw away from home at Mainz which became their third draw on the trot in the Bundesliga, but Hertha Berlin will be looking to go a step better when they return to their Olympiastadion Berlin for this upcoming clash against Freiburg on Thursday evening.
Hertha Berlin had previously registered a resounding 3-0 home win against Bayer Leverkusen which has been followed by three stalemates on the trot with local rivals Union Berlin, along with M’gladbach and Freiburg respectively, to keep their hopes of survival alive.
Therefore, a four-match unbeaten run should give the hosts plenty of confidence in getting something out of this clash and indeed, Hertha Berlin have lost just one of their last six matches overall which was a 2-0 defeat away at Borussia Dortmund which followed an earlier 2-1 home win over Augsburg.
Hertha Berlin have also improved of late at home too, winning two of their last three games but goals looks the safest option here as 10 of Hertha Berlin’s 14 home matches have resulted in over 2.5 goals.
Freiburg sit mid-table in the Bundesliga and the visitors still have a mathematical chance of achieving a top six finish as they trail 6th placed Bayer Leverkusen by a nine-point margin but have four matches remaining of the season.
Therefore, Freiburg have to win all of their remaining four matches and hope Leverkusen lose their remaining three which does seem improbable but a win in Berlin on Thursday night would at least keep the visitors in the race for the time being.
Recent results have been mixed though for Freiburg who have won just three of their last 10 games overall with victories against Bayer Leverkusen, Augsburg and Schalke, but the visitors have also lost five of these 10 games as well.
A mid-table finish therefore seems to beckon for this inconsistent Freiburg outfit but they’re by no means guaranteed the points at Hertha Berlin on Thursday as Freiburg have recorded just one win out of their last seven games on their travels.
All three points for Hertha Berlin would see the hosts jump out of the bottom three and we have to expect the hosts to be on the front foot here, so this could lead to a few goals in this one.
