Man City and PSG set for crucial UCL semi-final second leg

Following a thrilling first leg in Paris, Manchester City carry a 2-1 lead into the second leg of their Champions League semi-final clash with PSG.

Marquinhos gave the Parisians the lead on 15 minutes last week, yet second-half goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez saw City come from behind and gain a first-leg advantage.

Idrissa Gueye was sent off for PSG late on, meaning Pep Guardiola's men finished the match with 60% possession.

Manchester City took another giant leap towards securing the Premier League trophy last weekend, sealing a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Sergio Aguero and Ferran Torres both scored within three minutes of one another, while City enjoyed 70% possession and racked up 20 shots.

Remarkably, Man City have now won 20 of their previous 22 Premier League games and have only lost two of their last 26.

Let’s not forget that Guardiola’s side are also unbeaten in the Champions League this term, having claimed ten wins and one draw.

Interestingly, City have scored exactly two goals in each of their last five Champions League games and have scored over 1.5 goals in nine of their 11 matches in the competition.

On the flip side, PSG were made to work extremely hard to secure a 2-1 victory over Lens in Ligue 1 last weekend.

Neymar opened the scoring against the fifth-place club, before Marquinhos netted his second goal in as many games.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have now won each of their last four league games, scoring over 2.5 goals on three occasions in that time.

It is also worth noting that Paris St. Germain have won seven of their last nine leagues games and 13 of their previous 17.

However, PSG have now lost each of their last two Champions League matches, having also lost the second leg of their quarter-final tie with Bayern Munich.

Head-to-head: Man City remain unbeaten against PSG, with the English side recording two wins and two draws in this fixture over the years.

Guardiola’s side have now won each of their last two games against PSG, following a 1-0 victory during the 2015/16 UCL campaign.

Team news: Man City have no fresh injury concerns heading into the second leg, although Guardiola is likely to field a much-changed starting XI from the team that beat Palace last time out.

As for PSG, Juan Bernat will definitely miss Tuesday’s match. Importantly, Kylian Mbappe is a doubt, having missed Saturday’s win over Lens. Idrissa Gueye is suspended.

If the first leg is anything to go by, we are set for another thrilling game on Tuesday, with both teams likely to score.

Forebet predicts that Man City and PSG will produce a high-scoring draw in the second leg. Over 3.5 are expected, meaning Guardiola’s side will advance to the final.
