RB Leipzig to complete Bundesliga double over Stuttgart
3568

RB Leipzig’s title charge is over. Ten points now separate RB Leipzig with Bayern Munich and the title could be sorted this weekend. Bayern Munich need a win over Mainz on Saturday to claim a ninth straight title.

Die Roten Bullen host Stuttgart on Sunday looking to solidify their place in the league table. RB Leipzig are winless in three of their last four games in the Bundesliga. Julian Nagelsmann will hope to finish strongly and do the domestic double over Stuttgart.

Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo has watched Stuttgart lose three straight games. The team are in 10th place in the standings and safe for next season. Die Roten have been excellent in the Bundesliga and could push for a European place next term.

RB Leipzig defeated Stuttgart 1-0 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena earlier this season. Dani Olmo’s second half goal was enough for RB Leipzig to win.

Since 2017, the teams have played five times in the Bundesliga. RB Leipzig are unbeaten in those five games with four ending in wins for Die Roten Bullen.

Nagelsmann could be without Yussef Poulsen due to a thigh injury. The striker came on late against Hoffenheim last week and scored what was believed to be a second half stoppage-time winner.

However, VAR ruled the goal out as Poulsen’s header came off his hand before going into goal.

The RB Leipzig coach could be in his final days at the club. Both Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich are considering a £17.5 million buyout clause of Nagelmann’s contract.

Dominik Szoboszlai is ruled out of the game due to a groin injury. RB Leipzig’s signing of the winger in January was a move for the future rather than for the second half of the season. He is yet to play since making the move to RB Leipzig.

Pellegrino is without forward Nicolas Gonzalez due to a thigh injury. Midfielder Orel Mangala is out of the game with a thigh strain. Silas Wamangituka is ruled out due a knee problem. Defender Borna Sosa will not play either.

RB Leipzig have been excellent against Stuttgart over the course of their last five games winning four and drawing one. Die Roten Bullen should continue their great form against the Reds.

Like the reverse fixture, the match should be low scoring with RB Leipzig keeping a win to nil.

Nagelsmann’s team have kept 10 clean sheets at the Red Bull Arena this season. Two of their last five games ended without conceding a goal to opponents.
