Leeds tipped to push Man Utd close at Elland Road

Leeds United and Manchester United will renew their rivalry this weekend when the two sides clash at Elland Road on Sunday.

Leeds currently sit tenth in the Premier League table – two points ahead of Aston Villa and level with ninth-place Arsenal on 46 points.

On the flip side, Manchester United find themselves second – 11 points behind frontrunners Manchester City.

Leeds head into Sunday’s clash on a five-match unbeaten streak, having picked up three wins and two draws since losing to West Ham last month.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side also enjoyed a three-game winning run recently, seeing off Fulham, Sheffield United, and most impressively, Man City.

Leeds United picked up another impressive result last time out, clinching a 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Monday.

Finishing the game with 62% possession, Diego Llorente netted an 87th-minute equaliser to cancel out Sadio Mane’s first-half goal.

Following promotion from the Championship last year, it’s safe to say that Leeds have enjoyed an excellent comeback campaign in the top-flight.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are also on a fantastic run at the moment. Indeed, they have secured five straight league victories.

Man City, West Ham, Brighton, Tottenham and Burnley have all fallen to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the past couple of months.

United’s five-match winning streak is also part of a 12-match unbeaten run in the Premier League (seven wins, five draws).

Looking at the bigger picture, the Red Devils have only lost one of their previous 26 Premier League games.

With a Europa League semi-final on the horizon, Man Utd have the potential to finish the campaign on a high.

Head-to-head: Manchester United clinched a hefty 6-2 victory over Leeds in the reverse fixture back in December, with Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes both scoring twice.

Man Utd have only lost one of their last seven meetings with Leeds – and two of their previous 17 in all competitions.

Team news: Liam Cooper is currently sidelined through injury, although Raphina, Rodrigo and Adam Forshaw could feature for Leeds this weekend.

As for Man Utd, Anthony Martial and Phil Jones look set to miss the rest of the season, while Eric Bailly is also an injury doubt.

Leeds are enjoying an excellent run at the moment, but let’s not forget that Man Utd have won each of their last five Premier League games.

Forebet predicts that Leeds will push Man Utd all the way on Sunday. Still, Solskjaer’s men are expected to seal a narrow victory.
