Chelsea carry a 2-0 advantage into the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Porto, with the two sides meeting at Stamford Bridge for the second leg on Tuesday.
Goals from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell handed the Blues a first-leg win at a neutral venue in Seville last week.
Having enjoyed 61% possession and dominated large spells of the game, it’s fair to say that Chelsea deserved to win the first leg.
Thomas Tuchel’s side crushed Crystal Palace 4-1 on Saturday, with Christian Pulisic bagging a brace, along with goals from Kai Havertz and Kurt Zouma.
Chelsea are yet to lose on the road under Tuchel in the Premier League, picking up four wins and two draws away from home since the German took over.
It is also worth noting that Chelsea have only lost one of their 17 matches in all competitions under Tuchel, with three straight clean sheets coming in the Champions League.
The Blues have now won the first leg of a Champions League knockout tie eleven times, progressing on eight of the previous ten occasions.
On the flip side, Porto created plenty of chances in the first leg, yet they were unable to break down Chelsea’s solid backline.
The Portuguese champions racked up 12 shots – five on target – last week, but a lack of cutting edge in attack ultimately let them down.
However, Porto bounced back with a 2-0 win over Tondela at the weekend, extending their winning streak to five matches in Liga NOS.
In fact, Porto are currently enjoying a 20-game unbeaten run in the Portuguese top-flight, having sealed 15 wins and five draws since early November.
Head-to-head: Chelsea and Porto have faced each other nine times over the years, with every meeting coming in the Champions League since 2004.
Chelsea have claimed six wins overall, with Porto beating the Blues just twice (2004 and 2015). One match ended in a draw.
Team news: Thiago Silva is likely to return having been suspended for Saturday’s Premier League game. The veteran Brazilian could replace the injured Andreas Christensen in Chelsea’s defence.
As for Porto, Mehdi Taremi is suspended, while Francisco Meixedo, Ivan Marcano and Diego Costa are all unavailable.
Chelsea claimed a comfortable 2-0 victory in the first leg and look set produce a similar performance – and result – in the second leg.
Forebet predicts that Chelsea will keep yet another clean sheet on their way to beating Porto on Tuesday.
