Juventus to romp against Genoa

Juventus go into Serie A matchday 30 just three points ahead of fifth-place Napoli. Andrea Pirlo’s team are not fighting for a league title this time around, rather they are trying to keep ahold of a Champions League qualification place.

On Sunday, Genoa visit the Allianz Arena seeking to keep their three-game unbeaten run going. Coach Davide Ballardini took over the Grifone in midseason and changed the club from a relegation-threatened team into a midtable side.

Genoa are 13th in the standings and 10 points above the relegation zone with nine games left to play. Genoa have not defeated Juventus in four straight matches in all competitions.

Sunday’s game will be the third of the campaign between the rivals. They met in Serie A play with Juventus winning 3-1. All four goals came in the second half. They met again in the Coppa Italia with the game finishing 2-2 at full-time. Juventus won in extra-time to progress.

Juventus have Serie A’s second-best home points total with 35 this season. They have won five of their last six games at the Allianz Arena. The Old Lady have conceded a mere 11 goals in 15 home games.

Genoa are unbeaten in four of their last six away games. It is decent form, but they will be coming up against Juventus this weekend. Just three times this term have the Grifone claimed wins away from home.

Ballardini’s team have struggled to score goals on the road with a mere 10 being tallied. They have been decent on the defensive end with just 19 goals allowed on their travels.

Pirlo has two players on the Juventus injury list going into the game on Sunday. Federico Bernardeschi and Leonardo Bonucci are both doubts for the game due to testing positive for COVID-19.

Ballardini is without midfielder Kevin Strootman who is suspended for the fixture. Defender Luca Pellegrini is a doubt following a hamstring strain.

Juventus have traditionally had Genoa’s number in games in Serie A. Genoa have won just three of the last 15 games between the rivals. Sunday’s match at the Allianz is another game that should go the way of the Old Lady.

Genoa are winless in 16 straight matches in Turin. That trend should continue this weekend as Juventus claim a win at home against the Grifone.

With Genoa’s goalscoring issues away from home, Juventus are likely to post a win to nil on the day.
