Hoffenheim will be eager to avoid a fourth league defeat on Monday evening when they play host to 6th placed Bayer Leverkusen following three defeats on the trot which has resulted in the hosts dropping down to 12th place in the Bundesliga.
Defeats to Stuttgart, Mainz and Augsburg have dropped the hosts into the bottom half of the German top flight while the bigger picture shows that Hoffenheim have managed to register just two wins in their last nine matches overall.
The one positive thing for Hoffenheim though is that both of these wins were recorded on home turf at their PreZero Arena with victories over Werder Bremen 4-0 and Wolfsburg 2-1 but five defeats within these nine matches suggests that this upcoming clash against Bayer Leverkusen looks far from being easy.
5 wins, 2 draws and 6 defeats underlines Hoffenheim’s inconsistency at home but goals have featured on a regular basis with 10 of Hoffenheim’s 13 home matches resulting in over 2.5 goals so far this season.
Bayer Leverkusen could leapfrog Borussia Dortmund into 5th place in the Bundesliga with all three points against a struggling Hoffenheim outfit on Monday night at the PreZero Arena following a welcome 2-1 home win over Schalke last time out in the domestic top flight.
Leverkusen are pushing for a place in next season’s Europa League as the visitors occupy the last remaining European spot in 6th place but with the likes of Union Berlin, Stuttgart and M’gladbach all four points behind and poised to strike, Bayer Leverkusen know they can’t afford too many more slip-ups.
With just two wins out of their last seven matches overall, Leverkusen are also seemingly far from a guaranteed three points here as they’ve suffered recent defeats to Freiburg, Arminia Bielefeld and Hertha Berlin.
Although, goals look likely as the visitors will be pressing for all three points in this encounter.
Six of Bayer Leverkusen’s 13 away matches have resulted in over 2.5 goals which doesn’t appear to be too high but their previous encounters with Hoffenheim have produced goals on a regular basis and this track record should produce further goals again.
Six of the previous seven meetings between Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen have seen over 2.5 goals scored and this trend could well continue in Monday’s clash.
