West Ham to continue Champions League qualification form versus Leeds United

David Moyes could do the unthinkable this season and get West Ham into the Champions League for next term. West Ham go into matchday 28 in sixth place and two points back of fourth-placed Chelsea.

The Hammers have a game in hand going into the weekend after the Blues played in midweek versus Liverpool. Now, Moyes takes West Ham up against Leeds United at the London Stadium.

The manager will aim to claim a second straight win over Leeds United.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team head into the game in 11th place and 11 points off of Europa League qualification. Twelve points separate Leeds United from the relegation zone. If they continue playing well, the Whites will have no issue with retaining their Premier League status.

West Ham came from a goal down in the reverse fixture versus Leeds United at Elland Road to claim a 2-1 win. Mateusz Klich scored a sixth-minute penalty but Tomas Soucek cancelled out the goal in the 25th minute.

Centre-back Angelo Ogbonna struck the winner 10 minutes from time to give West ham the win. West Ham took 10 points from the last 18 available. Their loss on matchday 27 against Manchester City ended a four-game unbeaten run.

Leeds United took just six points from their last 18 possible. The Whites are inconsistent but have done nearly enough to retain their Premier League status.

The Hammers have the Premier League’s second-best points total in the league. They have won back-to-back games at home and collected 24 points from 39 possible. They are +6 in goal difference with 21 scored and 15 conceded.

Leeds United are on a two-game losing streak away from Elland Road. They are –3 in goal difference on their travels with 27 conceded and 24 scored.

Moyes has six names on his injury list going into matchday 28. Defender Arthur Masuaku is ruled out with a knee injury. Defender Angelo Ogbonna and Forward Andriy Yarmolenko are also ruled out due to injury.

Bielsa has seven names on his injury list at Leeds United. Defender Robin Koch, Adam Forshaw, and Ian Poveda-Ocampo are all three ruled out.

The manager could get Rodrigo, Kalvin Phillips, and Jamie Shackleton back from their respective injuries. The trio is to take fitness tests in the lead up to the game.

West Ham are playing brilliantly in the league and should get back to winning ways against Leeds United. The teams played out a thrilling 2-1 win earlier this season and should see a similar result this time around.

Expect both teams to score and over 2.5 goals as West Ham win.
