Chelsea head into matchday 28 in fourth place and in great form under manager Thomas Tuchel. The club’s decision to sack Frank Lampard has appeared the right thing as Tuchel has Chelsea unbeaten in eight straight Premier League matches.
The Blues have conceded just two league goals since Tuchel arrived at Stamford Bridge. On Monday night, they will aim to take another step to solidifying a place in the top four and could pull closer to second-placed Manchester United.
Everton are on a three-game winning streak. On Thursday night, Everton sat in fourth place for a few hours after defeating West Brom away. Chelsea’s 1-0 win at Anfield against Liverpool enabled the Blues to leapfrog the Toffees in the table.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team won the reverse fixture in December 1-0 thanks to a Gylfi Sigurdsson penalty. The home team have won eight straight games between these sides in all competitions.
Everton have had little success at Stamford Bridge. Their last win at Stamford Bridge came in November 1994.
Tuchel has just two players on the injury list heading into matchday 28. Centre-back Thiago Silva is a doubt after suffering a muscle injury against Tottenham Hotspur in February.
Tammy Abraham is likely to miss out too after suffering an ankle injury. Abraham is linked with a transfer to West Ham.
Everton have several names on the injury list going into the fixture. Defender Yerry Mina and forward Jean-Philippe Gbamin are both ruled out of the match. Midfielder Fabian Delph is once again ruled out of playing the fixture.
Ancelotti could have the likes of Seamus Coleman, Tom Davies, James Rodriguez and Robin Olsen available following injuries.
Chelsea’s Mason Mount goes into the game on Monday after scoring the winner versus Liverpool in midweek. The Blues midfielder has scored three goals since Tuchel took over, proving is deserving of a place in the team. Mount has five goals in the league.
Everton are a solid team and will give Chelsea trouble at Stamford Bridge. Monday night’s game should be a low-scoring affair when the teams meet. Expect a defensive struggle as neither side can make the breakthrough.
The Toffees have gone nearly three decades without winning at Stamford Bridge. Although that winless run should continue, they could get a draw as both teams find the back of the net and under 2.5 goals are scored. A defensive struggle is on the cards when the two top-four chasers meet.
