Liverpool to end four-game losing streak against Sheffield United
2974

Liverpool are in crisis with four straight losses in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp’s team are fighting for Champions League qualification for next season but based on form, are by no means guaranteed a place in the tournament next season.

The Reds head to Bramall Lane on Sunday in an attempt to end their losing against the league’s last-placed team. Sheffield United have taken just 11 points from 25 games. They are 14 points from 17th-placed Newcastle United and almost assured of going down to the Championship.

The Blades have lost three straight games in the league and took six points from their last 18 points on offer. They scored a mere five goals in those six matches while allowing nine to opponents.

Liverpool also took six points from their last 18 possible. The club’s defence has suddenly struggled and it isn’t just the attack going missing in games. The Reds conceded 12 goals over the course of those five games.

Makeshift defenders Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are currently ruled out making it five first- or second-choice centre-backs out of action. Klopp is likely to use Ozan Kabak, who has not looked up to the challenge since arriving, along with either Nat Phillips, Ben Davies, or Rhys Williams at the back.

Jordan Henderson is now out until April and underwent surgery this week to fix a muscle injury. James Milner will remain out as will Diogo Jota.

Liverpool’s attack has been worse than the defence. The team scored just eight times over the course of those six fixtures.

Chris Wilder will be without defensive midfielder Sander Berge, who is now expected to leave in the summer due to his salary if the club go down. John Egan, Jack O’Connell, Jack Robinson, and Lys Mousset are all ruled out for the fixture.

The reverse fixture this season saw Liverpool come from behind to win 2-1 against the Blades at Anfield in October. Berge’s first half penalty was cancelled out by a Roberto Firmino goal. Diogo Jota scored the winner in the second period.

Liverpool are on a three-game winning streak against Sheffield United in the Premier League. The Reds outscored Sheffield United 5-1 during that time. Liverpool are three points off of the top five and desperately need to win on Sunday to stay in European qualification contention.

Klopp’s team should finally end their Premier League losing streak. The Reds are desperate to win and against the league’s worst side, should get a win away from home to stop the rot.
