Levante and Athletic Bilbao to both score in La Liga encounter

Levante will head into Friday night’s clash against Athletic Bilbao fresh from taking four points off the La Liga leaders, Atletico Madrid, having held them to a 1-1 draw at home and then recording a valuable 2-0 win away from home at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano which keeps their hopes of a top six finish alive.

Levante now sit in 8th place on the La Liga ladder and six points behind 6th placed Villarreal but a win on Friday night at their Estadio Ciudad de Valencia would see the deficit slashed in half.

Recent results have been solid for Levante as they’ve suffered just the one defeat out of their last eight matches which came in a surprising 1-0 loss at home to Osasuna but the hosts have also picked up wins against Eibar and Real Madrid within this sequence too.

However, three wins from eight matches still doesn’t guarantee all three points at home here but six of these eight matches have seen both teams score while at home, Levante are without a win from their last four but nine of their 12 home matches have seen both teams score.

Manager, Paco Lopez, has no fresh injury concerns and looks set to stick with the same team that defeated Atletico Madrid.

Athletic Bilbao bring a three-match unbeaten run into this Friday night clash against Levante having picked up points in draws with Valencia and Villarreal along with recording a resounding 4-0 victory away from home at Cadiz in between.

The visitors have produced mixed results though of late as they’ve picked up just three wins out of their last nine matches which also includes three defeats and three draws; the defeats being against Real Sociedad and Barcelona (home and away).

Form away from home has dipped sharply though in recent times as Athletic Bilbao have managed to collect just one win out of their last nine matches on their travels, losing five of these fixtures while six of these nine games have also seen both teams score.

Athletic Bilbao manager, Marcelino, may opt to stick with the same team here as they look to extend their unbeaten run to four matches.

Four of the previous five meetings have seen both teams hit the back of the net and this looks the likely outcome again on Friday night.
