Manchester United to keep title pace with win over West Brom
2423

Manchester United are five points behind league leaders Manchester City heading into matchday 24. The Red Devils will aim to keep the distance at a maximum of five when they visit West Brom on Sunday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team are coming off of a dramatic 3-3 draw against Everton last weekend that saw the Red Devils concede a second half stoppage-time goal. The team are now winless in four of their last six games in the Premier League.

Sam Allardyce would have expected better performances from his West Brom team after taking over from Slaven Bilic in December. He hasn’t got the results expected from his team. Now, West Brom are on a two-game losing streak in the league and 11 points from relegation safety.

Manchester United defeated West Brom earlier this season at Old Trafford 1-0 thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty. It was the lone goal of the game that saw West Brom play well at times. The Baggies were denied a clear penalty just before the Red Devils were awarded a very debatable spot-kick.

Allardyce has just one player out of action this weekend. Grady Diangana is ruled out of the match with a thigh muscle strain.

Solskjaer is without Paul Pogba due to a muscle injury. He could return at the end of the month. Defender Eric Bailly could return to the team for the game after missing the FA Cup fifth round with an injury.

Supporters are hopeful that Solskjaer will give January signing Amad Diallo a Premier League debut. The 18-year-old winger signed from Atalanta for just over £37 million in January.

Manchester United took nine points from their last 18 on offer in the league. They conceded six times in those six games while tallying 15 goals.

West Brom, on the other hand, took just four points from their last four games. They conceded 15 times to opponents. The Baggies have conceded the most goals of any team in the league with 54 this season. That is an average of 2.3 goals per match.

Manchester United should continue their good form against West Brom. They are the league’s best away team with 27 points taken from 33 possible on the road.

Solskjaer’s side will get the win with over 2.5 goals being scored. The victory will prepare the Red Devils for their Europa League last 32 game next week versus Spain’s Real Sociedad.
