Thomas Tuchel has improved Chelsea, leading them to four straight matches without a defeat. On Thursday night, Chelsea visit Championship club Barnsley for the second time this season.

The clubs met earlier this campaign in the Carabao Cup where Chelsea thrashed Barnsley 6-0. Kai Havertz scored a hat-trick and Tammy Abraham, Ross Barkley, and Olivier Giroud all added goals. Chelsea will feel confident before a ball is kicked of getting another win versus the Reds.

Barnsley are in midtable in the Championship without worry of relegation. Valerian Ismael, who took over as manager in October not long after the loss to Chelsea, can take his side into the game with complete focus on getting a result.

Unfortunately for Ismael, his team are in poor form going into the game. Their only win in the last five matches came in the FA Cup. Their last two fixtures, both played in the Championship, finished in draws. Barnsley are coming off of a weekend nil-nil draw versus Nottingham Forest away.

Tuchel has improved Chelsea’s defence since arriving. The Blues have allowed just one goal over the course of their last four matches. Meanwhile, the attack has tallied five goals and there is hope that Tuchel has found the secret to get the club scoring goals.

Chelsea will be without centre-back Thiago Silva after he suffered a muscle injury last week versus Spurs. It is hoped that Silva will be back in a week’s time. Havertz, Timo Werner, and Christian Pulisic could all three miss the game.

Werner and Havertz have slight injuries while Pulisic is said to be dealing with a “family issue. All three could be kept out of the game with eyes on the weekend’s Premier League match versus Newcastle United.

Ismael has four players on his injury list for the match this week. Aapo Halme and Liam Kitching could both return to the side this week for the cup tie. Mike Bahre could miss out as he continues to have a groin issue troubling him. Ben Williams will not play due to an ACL injury.

Chelsea thrashed Barnsley in the Carabao Cup by a score 6-0. The Blues may not score that many goals this time around, but should still gain a win to nil with over 2.5 goals scored to punch their ticket to the quarterfinals. Tuchel has turned the club around and should get a fourth straight win for the Blues.
