West Ham aim to keep PL winning streak against Aston Villa going

West Ham are unbeaten in their last three games in the Premier League versus Aston Villa. The Hammers took two draws in games against Aston Villa last season and a 2-1 victory in their meeting from earlier this campaign. Can they make it four games without a loss versus Aston Villa?

David Moyes’ team are in the thick of things for European qualification. They sit in fifth place and four points off of fourth-placed Leicester City.

West Ham are coming off of a 3-1 loss to Liverpool at home on Sunday. It was a game that they never really got into and the scoreline made it look closer than it was.

Aston Villa are hot and cold at the moment, but coming off of a 1-0 away win versus a struggling Southampton. The Villains are also in the thick of things in terms of European qualification as just three points has them off of fifth place.

West Ham may have lost to Liverpool on Sunday, but they have been brilliant over their last six matches. West Ham took 13 points from their last 18 on offer, scoring eight goals and conceding six times.

Dean Smith’s team, on the other hand, took just seven points from their last 18 on offer. Goals dried up with just seven being scored while the defence allowed eight to opponents. Smith has two injured players that are set to miss the game. Wesley and Kortney Hause will both sit out the match.

Moyes also has two players on his injury list heading into the midweek clash. Goalkeeper Darren Randolph is a doubt and unlikely to return to the squad. Defender Arthur Masuaku is ruled out with a long-term knee injury.

Aston Villa are three-matches unbeaten at home, but they have been inconsistent at Villa Park where their record is 4W-1D-3L. West Ham are three-games unbeaten on the road and +2 in goal difference. The Hammers have an away record of 5W-2D-3L.

When these teams met earlier this season, West Ham came away with a 2-1 win. Angelo Ogbonna and Jarrod Bowen scored on either side of a Jack Grealish goal for Aston Villa.

Grealish’s form remains good and is the reason Aston Villa are still picking up points. The midfielder has three assists and a goal in his last five Premier league matches.

West Ham are in better form currently despite coming off of a loss to Liverpool at the weekend. They are also unbeaten in three straight league games versus Aston Villa.

Moyes’ team should do the double over Aston Villa on Wednesday as the home team once again struggle in the final third.
