Manchester City are on a brilliant run of form in the Premier League. The Cityzens are on a 12-match unbeaten run in the league and head to Turf Moor on Wednesday night aiming to keep their undefeated run going.
Pep Guardiola’s side are three points ahead of Manchester United in the Premier League title race after the Red Devils dropped points for the second straight game over the weekend, drawing nil-nil with Arsenal.
Burnley are coming off of a 2-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The Clarets’ poor finishing prevented them from getting on the scoresheet, but the team’s scoring record is why the club are just eight points above the relegation zone.
Sean Dyche could have three players missing from the squad on Wednesday night. Charlie Taylor, Josh Brownhill, and Ashley Barnes are all on the Burnley injured list. The trio is a doubt to appear for the fixture, but will undergo late fitness tests.
Guardiola will be without three players for the fixture. Sergio Aguero remains out after a positive COVID-19 test. Meanwhile, Nathan Ake is ruled out due to a muscle injury. Kevin De Bruyne is still on the shelf with a thing injury, but it is hoped he will be back soon for the team’s league matches.
Manchester City won all six of their last six league games. The Cityzens’ defence were brilliant over the course of those six matches conceding just one goal while tallying 16 scored.
Burnley took nine points from their last 18 on offer. They scored a mere five times during those six matches, losing to nil three times. Burnley’s defence only allowed six goals against, however.
When these teams met in November, Manchester City thrashed Burnley 5-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Riyad Mahrez and goals from Benjamin Mendy and Ferran Torres. It was the second win of the year in all competitions for the Cityzens as they also won 3-0 in the Carabao Cup versus the Clarets.
Manchester City will face off with Liverpool on matchday 22 at Anfield. Wednesday night’s game will serve as a warm up for the Manchester City.
Burnley may be eight points above Fulham in the race for survival, but more dropped points could see them sink closer to the Cottagers. The Clarets have a six-point clash against Brighton on matchday 22 and a win in that fixture could be the difference between survival and relegation.
Manchester City should grab a win against Burnley for the third time this season. They have won to nil in three straight games versus the Clarets 13-0. The Cityzens should have another strong showing at Turf Moor.
