Burnley expected to hand Tuchel first Chelsea win
2984

Chelsea will search for their first win under new head coach Thomas Tuchel when in-form Burnley travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Blues find themselves eighth in the Premier League table – eight points ahead of fifteenth-place Burnley.

A poor run of just two wins in nine games has seen Chelsea drop out of the title race and fall five points shy of the Champions League places.

Since the turn of the year, the Blues have only managed to win one of their four Premier League games, losing to Manchester City and Leicester along the way.

Despite enjoying 79% possession and racking up 898 passes against Wolves on Wednesday, Chelsea were unable to hand Tuchel a winning start.

Wolves failed to register a single shot on target at Stamford Bridge, yet Nuno Espirito Santo’s side managed to hold out for a goalless draw.

Chelsea look set to play a possession-based game under Tuchel, but the team must discover a cutting in edge in attack.

Meanwhile, Burnley now sit nine points clear of the relegation zone following a series of impressive results.

Sean Dyche’s men have won four of their previous seven Premier League outings, beating Wolves, Sheffield United, Liverpool and Aston Villa.

After ending Liverpool’s lengthy unbeaten run at Anfield, the Clarets came from behind to stun Aston Villa on Wednesday.

Two goals in the space of three second-half minutes from Dwight McNeil and Chris Wood saw Burnley come from 2-1 down to beat Villa 3-2.

Dyche’s side will now be aiming to steer further clear of the relegation zone and into the top half of the table.

Head-to-head: Chelsea crushed Burnley 3-0 back in October, with goals from Hakim Ziyech, Kurt Zouma and Timo Werner.

Burnley have record five defeats and one draw in their last six meetings with Chelsea, last beating the Blues back in 2017.

Team news: Tuchel is expected to rotate his starting XI this weekend after leaving out the likes of Mason Mount, Reece James and Tammy Abraham in midweek.

N’Golo Kante has returned to training and could make a return to the team following a spell on the sidelines through injury.

As for Burnley, Charlie Taylor, Ashley Barnes and Josh Brownhill will all be assessed before Sunday, although Dyche isn’t likely to change his line-up too much.

Burnley have been on the rise recently, but Chelsea are likely to be too strong for Sean Dyche’s side on Sunday.

Forebet predicts that Chelsea will score at least two goals and prevent Burnley from scoring at Stamford Bridge.
