AC Milan remain top of the Serie A table, 3pts ahead of local-rivals Inter, and boast a 10pt lead over this weekend’s guests, 6th-placed Atalanta.
AC Milan made the trip to Cagliari on Monday night where they secured a comfortable 2-0 victory. Atalanta were also away from home in midweek but could only manage a 1-1 draw with Udinese.
When these two sides meet, their games are usually packed with goalmouth action and rarely fail to entertain.
Three of the duo’s last four meetings have produced over 3.5 goals and four of their last five clashes have ended with both teams getting on the scoreboard.
The recent performances of both clubs also suggest we should be in for an exciting 90-minutes. AC Milan have only failed to score in one of their last six matches and have scored at least two goals in their other five games during that period.
Three of Atalanta’s last six matches have produced over 3.5 goals and four have seen both teams score, with the visitors also only failing to score in one of their last six fixtures.
Saelemaekers came on from the bench for AC Milan against Cagliari but ended up getting booked twice and received his marching order and will now miss the game against Atalanta.
Romagnoli picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in that game as well and will also be unavailable for this weekend’s match.
Hernandez, Krunic, Rebic, Gabbia and Bennacer are all doubts for AC Milan due to injury or isolation. The visitor’s only two injury concerns this weekend are over Zapata and Pasalic, the latter might pass a late fitness test, but the former is expected to return in March.
It’s difficult to see either side keeping a clean sheet in this game and Saturday’s clash has the potential to produce over 3.5 goals. Going by form, H2H and the overall performances of both clubs this season, AC Milan are the best bets to win this game, but we expect it to be a close and competitive 90-minutes.
