Man City poised to secure high-scoring victory over Brighton

Manchester City will be looking to extend their Premier League winning streak to four games when Brighton & Hove Albion visit the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

A seven-game unbeaten run has seen Man City climb to fifth in the table – level on 29 points with fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, an eight-match winless stretch means Brighton are seventeenth – three points clear of the relegation zone.

In fact, Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t lost any of their previous 13 games in all competitions, picking up ten wins and three draws in that time.

Man City’s last Premier League match was a convincing 3-1 victory over Chelsea, before Guardiola’s men beat Man Utd 2-0 in the EFL Cup semi-finals.

Last time out, the Cityzens cruised past Championship side Birmingham 3-0 in the third round of the FA Cup, with Bernardo Silva bagging a brace.

Unfortunately for Brighton, Man City have only lost three of their previous 27 home games in all competitions.

On the flip side, the Seagulls have only managed to win three of their last 22 Premier League matches – a run stretching back to last season.

However, Graham Potter’s men can take confidence from the fact that they have only suffered three defeats in their last 16 away games in all competitions.

It’s fair to say that if Brighton want to steer clear of the drop zone, they must start turning draws into wins.

No team has drawn more games than Brighton this term, with eight draws coming in their 17 Premier League outings (47% of their results).

The Seagull’s last league victory came all the way back in November, with five draws and three defeats coming since then.

In their previous encounters, Brighton needed penalties to edge past League Two outfit Newport County in the third round of the FA Cup.

Head-to-head: It’s safe to say that Man City have enjoyed playing Brighton in recent times. Indeed, Guardiola's side have claimed seven straight victories over the Seagulls.

The aggregate scoreline from the previous three meetings between the two sides sits at 13-1 in favour of Man City.

Team news: Man City’s squad has been ravaged by coronavirus, so Guardiola could be without as many as nine first-team players on Wednesday, including injuries.

Brighton have a host of players sidelined with injury, including Danny Welbeck and Adam Lallana. Yves Bissouma is suspended after picking up five yellow cards.

Man City may be missing a number of players at the moment, but they still have more than enough quality to overcome off-form Brighton.

Forebet predicts that Man City will produce yet another high-scoring victory against Brighton, with over 3.5 total match goals looking likely.
