Burnley host MK Dons on Saturday at Turf Moor in FA Cup third round. The Clarets are out of the Premier League relegation zone and will now focus on getting a result against League One club MK Dons.

The Dons are midtale in League One and are six points above the relegation zone. With both clubs near the bottom of their respective table, their managers may be cautious about their player selection.

Although Burnley started the Premier League campaign in poor form, manager Sean Dyche has righted the ship at Turf Moor. The club was recently taken over by a new ownership group. There is no firm knowledge if Burnley will dive into the transfer market with fresh funds.

Burnley go into the game unbeaten in five of their last six matches in all competitions. The Clarets have only scored nine goals in the Premier League this season. They do struggle scoring goals, but the good news is that MK Dons are a League One side.

MK Dons are on a two-match winning streak in League One. They will fancy a giant-killing this weekend versus the Clarets. The Dons are unbeaten in four of their last five fixtures in the league.

While Russell Martin’s team have scored 26 goals, they have allowed 25 in 21 league matches. Based on MK Dons’ scoring and goals conceded record, they should get on the scoresheet this weekend and allow Burnley a goal.

Dyche has several players back in training, but they will need to undergo fitness tests before being passed fit for the FA Cup third round match. Dwight McNeil, Charlie Taylor, Jay Rodriguez, Jimmy Dunne, Jack Cork, and Johann Berg Gudmundsson are all to undergo fitness tests.

The Burnley manager could finally get Matej Vydra back from his recent lower back injury. Vydra has been passed fit for the game.

Russell will be without a number of first team players due to injury such as Kieran Agard, Jay Bird, David Kasumu, Jordan Houghton, Warren O’Hora, and Louis Thompson. Martin could have left-back Matthew Sorinola, George Williams, and forward Stephan Walker fit to play as both returned to training.

While Burnley could be ripe for the picking by MK Dons, the Premier League club should overcome their lower-league rival.

The match should end with both sides finding the back of the net and over 2.5 goals scored. Dyche’s team should grab the victory in the end in a close game.
