We have an all-Premier League FA Cup third round tie to get our teeth into on Saturday as Arsenal host Newcastle United and the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are 11th in the top-flight table – four points ahead of 15th-place Newcastle, although the Magpies have a game in hand over Arsenal.

Following a dreadful start to the season, Mikel Arteta’s side have turned things around over the past few weeks.

After losing 4-1 to Manchester City in the EFL Cup quarter-finals, Arsenal have recorded three straight victories in the Premier League.

Chelsea (3-1), Brighton (1-0) and West Brom (4-0) have all fallen to the Gunners since Christmas, meaning the Gunners are now within touching distance of the top half.

Alexandre Lacazette has been pivotal to Arsenal’s turnaround. The Frenchman has bagged four goals in his last three appearances, including a brace against West Brom.

At the other end of the pitch, only three teams have a better defensive record than the Gunners in the Premier League.

By contrast, Newcastle have one of the poorest defensive records in the division, so it is hardly surprising that they find themselves just above the drop zone.

It is also worth pointing out that Steve Bruce’s men have the fifth-worst scoring record in the Premier League.

The Magpies head into Saturday’s clash on the back of a five-game losing streak, with three defeats and two draws coming in that time.

Defeats to Leeds (5-2), Manchester City (2-0) and Leicester (2-1) have seen Newcastle drop down the standings.

Still, Newcastle can take confidence from the fact that they have only lost one of their last six FA Cup matches.

Head-to-head: Arsenal did the double over Newcastle last season, claiming a 1-0 win away and 4-0 victory on home soil.

In fact, the Gunners have won each of their last four matches against Newcastle, scoring nine goals along the way.

Team news: Arsenal are waiting on the fitness of Gabriel and Thomas Partey, but other than that, Arteta has a full squad to choose from.

Meanwhile, Allan Saint-Maximin, Jamaal Lascelles, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis are all doubts for Newcastle.

Given the contrasting form of these two sides, Arsenal are expected to cruise past Newcastle on Saturday.

Forebet predicts that the Gunners will score over 2.5 goals on their way to victory over Newcastle.
