Goals Expected as Leeds make the Trip to West Brom
2920

West Brom secured a decent point away at the champions Liverpool last time out, but new manager Sam Allardyce is still searching for his first Baggies win.

West Brom went behind early on at Anfield to a Mane strike but a late goal from Ajayi rescued a surprise point for the visitors. Leeds returned to winning ways in their last game, beating Burnley 1-0 thanks to a 5th-minute Bamford penalty.

West Brom remain in the relegation zone with just 8pts to their name this season, while Leeds occupy 12th spot on 20pts. When these two sides met in the Championship last season, Leeds remained unbeaten against the Baggies. Bielsa’s men picked up a home win and an away draw against

West Brom in the 2019/20 campaign and four of the duo’s last six encounters have produced over 3.5 goals. Both teams have also scored in four of the pair’s last six encounters, so when these two sides clash the goals usually flow.

Four of West Brom’s last five matches have seen both teams score and the Baggies have only kept one clean sheet in their last six attempts. Over 2.5 goals have been produced in three of the host’s last five outings, including that 5-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace.

Both teams have scored in four of Leeds’ last five matches and the visitors have only managed to keep two clean sheets in their last six matches. Over 3.5 goals have been scored in three of the visitor’s last five outings, including the 5-2 win over Newcastle and the 6-2 defeat at Old Trafford.

West Brom have only picked up one win from their last six matches, drawing twice and losing on the other three occasions. Leeds head into Tuesday’s clash as the form favourites with three wins and three defeats from their last six league games, and should be confident of outscoring the Baggies at The Hawthorns.

The hosts have only scored two goals in their last three home games, while Leeds have netted four goals in their last three away trips. Two of Leeds’ last three results have seen seven or more goals scored and the goal-fest could well continue on Tuesday.

Jake Livermore is suspended for the hosts, while Conor Townsend has been ruled out with a knee injury. There are also concerns over the fitnesses of Hal Robson-Kanu and Kyle Bartley. Leeds will once again be without the services of Berardi and Forshaw, both of whom have long term injuries, while Cooper, Koch and Llorente could all miss the trip to the Midlands.

Leeds are best placed to win Tuesday’s clash and all the stats point towards both teams scoring and over 2.5 goals being scored in what has the potential to be a genuine goal-fest on Tuesday.
