Leicester expected to edge Everton in high-scoring thriller

Leicester City and Everton clash at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday, with just four points separating the two sides in the congested Premier League table.

The Foxes currently sit 3rd on 24 points, while the Toffees are 7th having picked up 20 points so far this term.

Leicester head into Wednesday’s game on the back of a convincing 3-0 home victory over Brighton on Sunday.

All of the goals came in the first half, with James Maddison netting an eye-catching brace and Jamie Vardy completing the scoring.

The Foxes enjoyed 55% possession last time out – racking up 15 shots (six on target) against the Seagulls.

Leicester have now won more Premier League games than any other side this season (8). However, a lack of draws has prevented them from topping the table.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have lost four of their 12 league matches this season but are yet to draw a single game.

The Foxes are the joint-third highest scorers in the division (24). Only Liverpool (27) and Chelsea (25) have scored more.

Meanwhile, Everton secured their first win in three Premier League games by impressively beating Chelsea at the weekend.

Despite seeing just 28% possession against the Blues, Gylfi Sigurdsson’s first-half penalty ultimately proved to be the different between the teams.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men won each of their opening four league matches this term, yet they only managed to win one of their next seven.

However, Saturday’s victory over Chelsea will surely give the Toffees a much-needed boost, just in time for the busy festive period.

With 11 goals in 12 games, Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the Premier League’s top scorer – one goal clear of Jamie Vardy.

Head-to-head: The recent head-to-head record between these two sides is pretty even, with both teams claiming victories in recent years.

Everton picked up a win and a draw to avoid defeat against Leicester last season, yet the Foxes did the double over the Toffees in 2018/19.

Team news: Leicester will be without Ricardo Pereira, Caglar Soyuncu and Daniel Amartey on Wednesday, although Timothy Castagne is close to returning from injury.

Everton will be hoping that James Rodriguez is fit enough to return to the starting XI. Still, Lucas Digne and Fabian Delph are both injured.

This is destined to be a thrilling encounter between two in-form teams, with both sides scoring plenty of goals at the moment.

Forebet predicts that this match will produce over 4.5 goals. However, Leicester are expected to come out on top.
