PSG to flex their muscles against Lyon
Paris St. Germain vs Lyon - 13/12/2020
3828
Having recorded an emphatic 5-1 home win against Turkish Super Lig outfit, Istanbul Basaksehir, in the Champions League during the week, Sunday evening’s hosts, PSG, will be in confident mood ahead of their encounter with Lyon in the French top flight.
With just three defeats out of their last 17 matches overall in all competitions, PSG look set to add to their points tally in this fixture too, especially as the hosts have racked up 13 wins during this period while also picking up nine victories out of their last 11 matches in Ligue 1.
PSG’s campaign had started in disappointing fashion as they were dealt back-to-back defeats against Lens and Marseille but Thomas Tuchel’s side quickly bounced back by recording eight league wins on the trot which has helped the Paris club to the summit of Ligue 1.
The hosts hold a two-point lead over 2nd placed Lille but will no doubt be keen to extend their lead at the top of the division and as they’re unbeaten in their last five matches at Parc des Princes, PSG look in good shape here.
Lyon occupy 3rd place in Ligue 1 and are also just two points below their Sunday’s hosts, PSG, ahead of this important clash at the top of Ligue 1.
They too will fancy their chances of getting something out of this clash as they’ve lost just once so far this season.
Along with putting together a decent 10-match unbeaten sequence, Lyon have also won their last four matches on the trot with victories picked up against Saint-Etienne, Angers, Reims and Metz so they look a decent prospect here too.
Lyon have lost just once out of their seven away matches which came in the shape of a 2-1 loss at Montpellier earlier in the season but they’ve since been unbeaten in their subsequent five matches which includes wins at Strasbourg and Angers and Metz.
However, just four wins out of their last 11 matches on their travels hasn’t been entirely convincing and this includes a heavy 4-2 loss away at PSG back in February of last season’s campaign, while their record against their hosts hasn’t been great as they’ve lost the last four meetings on the trot, and this trend could continue on Sunday.
