Saturday’s action in the German Bundesliga brings us an evening clash between the top two clubs in the domestic top flight when Bayer Munich and RB Leipzig once again lock horns at the Allianz Arena with a precious three points up for grabs.
Bayern Munich currently sit in their accustomed pole position in the Bundesliga but the hosts only hold a slender two-point cushion over their visitors so there’s everything to play for in this encounter.
The hosts are unbeaten in their last 14 matches across all competitions and this impressive sequence of results also includes winning 12 of these 14 as well, so Bayern will fancy their chances of once agin holding the upper hand over RB Leipzig.
Bayern’s overall results in the Bundesliga are equally impressive as Hans Dieter Flick’s side have suffered just the one defeat out of their last 44 matches which must surely be among one of the best across all of the major European top flight leagues.
To top that off, Bayern Munich have won nine of their last 10 league matches at home and they’re unbeaten in each of the last four meetings at home against Leipzig.
Onto RB Leipzig then and the visitors occupy second place in the Bundesliga and just two points behind the perennial league champions but the visitors may sense an opportunity here following recent back-to-back wins.
Leipzig have registered recent wins against Arminia Bielefeld 2-1 in the Bundesliga and a 4-3 win away from home against Turkish Super Lig side, Istanbul Basaksehir, in the Champions League, so they’ll be bringing some momentum into this Saturday evening’s clash.
The visitors have struggled to match their illustrious opponents in terms of consistency and perhaps ruthlessness as they’ve lost three of their last eight matches in all competitions which include a 5-0 loss at Manchester United and 1-0 to PSG in the Champions League and a 1-0 loss on the road at Borussia Moenchengladbach in the Bundesliga.
Switch to results away from home in the German top flight and you’ll find that RB Leipzig have been fairly solid on their travels, losing just one of their last 11 matches on the road but it seems whenever they come up against Bayern Munich, they’re unable to turn the screw.
