Last season Sevilla looked to be a team going places in the debut season of former Spain and Real Madrid head coach Julen Lopetegui. The Andalusians sealed a top-four finish and also won the Europa League.
This season has not been great so far for Sevilla, as Los Nervionenses head into Saturday evening’s home game with Osasuna just two points above La Liga’s relegation zone.
A 2-1 defeat at Athletic Bilbao last time out was not only their fourth league match without a league win but also their third consecutive league defeat.
The game was a rare high-scoring game of late for Sevilla too, as four of their last five games have produced under 2.5 goals.
That game illustrated their problem at the moment in that they are struggling for goals this season. However, a 3-2 midweek win over Krasnodar in the Champions League may well lift the spirits and give the home side more confidence in front of goal. Striker Youssef En-Nesyri grabbed a brace in Russia to give Lopetegui’s team the win, despite the dismissal of Jesus Navas.
Osasuna have enjoyed a mixed start to their campaign in the Spanish top-flight this season. However, up until the weekend, the team from Pamplona were three games unbeaten in La Liga, only to suffer a 3-1 home defeat against reigning champions Real Madrid. The defeat against Los Blancos also ended a run of three straight clean sheets in La Liga.
The visitors recent away record in the Spanish top-flight is an inconsistent one, as they have won two, lost two and drawn one of their previous five games on their travels in the league.
Their recent away matches have also been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their previous nine away matches in the Spanish top-flight.
Forebet predicts that Osasuna will add to Sevilla’s recent La Liga misery by recording a victory in a low-scoring encounter.
