On Thursday evening, Torino and Genoa go head-to-head at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, in a game that could be vital in the fight for survival in Serie A.
Torino are just five points clear of the relegation zone with six rounds of games remaining in the Italian top-flight. The team from Turin have been in poor form of late in Serie A, which accounts for their perilous position in the table.
A 3-1 defeat at Inter last time out means that Il Toro have lost four of their last five games in the Italian top-flight. The game also saw Moreno Longo’s team concede at two goals for the fourth time in five league games. The goals conceded may not be a major surprise, as Torino have been poor in defence of late. Only relegation-threatened Brescia and Lecce have conceded more goals in Serie A than the Granata this season.
Torino’s recent home form has been highly inconsistent. They have suffered one defeat in four games, having recorded two wins, which is not a terrible record for a team struggling near the foot of the table.
Genoa are even closer to the drop zone than the home team, as they are currently just a point above the bottom three.
A 2-0 win over SPAL last time out ended a five-game winless run for the visitors in the Italian top-flight.
Another positive for the visitors is that the game saw a first clean sheet in six league matches. In fact, they had conceded at least two goals in their five Serie A outings.
On the flip side though, Genoa’s recent away form has been decent, as they are currently six games unbeaten on their travels in the Italian top-flight.
Forebet predicts that this game will end in an entertaining draw, which could leave the visitors in major trouble.
