Real Madrid to rack up 10 wins on trot at Villarreal’s expense

Thursday evening’s hosts, Real Madrid, will not only be looking to collect a 10th league win on the trot in the Spanish top flight but they’ll also be homing in on securing the La Liga title if they manage to take all three points against visitors, Villarreal.

After recording nine wins on the trot, Real Madrid deservedly sit top of the Spanish top flight ahead of this penultimate game of the season against 5th placed Villarreal, who, despite their lofty league position, may well be fearing the worst at the Bernabeu on Thursday night.

Six of these nine victories have also seen Real Madrid keep clean sheets as well and the hosts will no doubt be desperate to hang onto their unbeaten tag at home throughout this campaign, having won 14 and drawn 4 to date this term.

Real Madrid have been irrepressible at home and the hosts bring an excellent run of form into this encounter having also won their last six home matches on the trot, five of which have been to nil too.

Despite their 5th placing on the La Liga ladder, Villarreal look to have their work cut out if they’re to avoid defeat at the Bernabeu as the visitors look to bounce back from their recent 2-1 defeat at home to Real Sociedad which became Villarreal second defeat in three matches.

An earlier heavy 4-1 loss at home to Barcelona ended Villarreal’s recent unbeaten run of six matches.

And although they recorded a 3-1 win away from home at Getafe in between these recent losses which became a fourth away win on the trot, Villarreal still look to have an extremely tough night at the office ahead of them in Madrid.

Victories on the road at Celta Vigo, Granada, Real Betis and Getafe would normally set the visitors up in confident mood on the road for their next assignment, but such is Real Madrid’s dominance this season, the visitors look to be set for disappointment in this clash.

With just three wins from the previous eight meetings between these two teams, Real Madrid have been far from having things all their own way, but this season’s team under manager Zinedine Zidane, look every bit the La Liga champions-elect and they can seal the title with a win in this encounter.
