Villarreal head into Monday night’s matchday 36 fixture in fifth place and just six points off of the final Champions League place. The Yellow Submarine could still make the Champions League next season but need to win and get help elsewhere.

Villarreal have won their last two games against Real Sociedad. However, an interesting trend has formed over the last three La Liga matches between the two clubs.
The away team have won the last three league games between Villarreal and Real Sociedad. Last season, Real Sociedad went to the Estadio de la Ceramica and claimed a 2-1 win. After a 1-1 first half, the Royal scored the winner in the second half for the victory.
Real Sociedad’s away record has not been great and it won’t be easy to claim a second straight win at the Estadio de la Ceramica. The club have won just once in their last six away fixtures with four finishing in losses. They are winless in three straight away games.
Villarreal have posted a 3W-1D-2L record over their last six home matches. They have been good at home posting a +9-goal difference. Although they lost their most recent home fixture, it did come at the hands of title-chasing Barcelona.
