Verona and Inter Milan to both score in eventful clash

Hellas Verona suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat away from home on the weekend in Serie A against relegation-threatened Brescia, but although they face a tough upcoming fixture against high-flying Inter Milan, Verona at least have home advantage at their Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.

Recent results have produced a mixed bag of returns for Hellas Verona who currently sit in a creditable 8th place on the Serie A ladder as they’ve captured wins against Cagliari 2-1 and Parma 3-2 (both of which were at home), but they’ve also been handed defeats to Napoli and Brescia.

But it’s been on home turf at their Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi where Hellas Verona have been impressive of late as the hosts have racked up seven wins from their last nine matches, and this momentum will give them plenty of belief that they can give Inter Milan a good run for their money on Thursday.

Onto Inter Milan then, and Antonio Conte’s side were dealt a disappointing but deserved 2-1 loss at home to Bologna as the hosts just failed to turn up and make their superiority count in the final third, but the visitors are still assured of a top four finish.

3rd placed Inter Milan have won three of their last five matches overall in the Italian top flight with victories gained over Sampdoria, Parma and Brescia - the latter being a 6-0 thrashing of the relegation candidates at home, but recent performances haven’t been entirely convincing.

These unconvincing displays have also been evident away from home too as Conte’s side have picked up wins at Udinese and Parma but struggled against Lazio and Juventus as they were handed 2-1 and 2-0 defeats respectively.

Inter have generally outscored their opponents whilst conceding at least once themselves on their travels so far this season.

This upcoming clash at Hellas Verona could be no exception as 10 of Inter Milan’s 14 away matches have resulted with both teams scoring.

Looking back over Hellas Verona’s past home matches and we see that eight of their 15 home matches have also seen both teams score which isn’t as high as a conversion as Inter’s games, but taking into the fact that Verona have won five of their last six at home, the hosts stand a decent chance of scoring here too.
