Saturday’s hosts, Lazio, will be looking to make it seven wins from eight matches in the Italian top flight when they play host to 7th placed AC Milan, which in turn could turn the pressure back on the current Serie A league leaders, Juventus.

Lazio, in 2nd place, trail Juventus by a four-point margin but they hold home advantage at their Stadio Olimpico this weekend where they’ll be looking to not only preserve their unbeaten status at home this season but also collect another valuable three points in a bid to capture the Serie A title.

The hosts have also won 10 of their last 11 matches at the Stadio Olimpico within what is an excellent home record which has seen Lazio post 12 wins from their 15 matches on home turf to date this season which has been built upon a solid defensive unit that has kept a total of seven clean sheets so far this term.

The bigger picture shows that Lazio are unbeaten in their last 16 matches at home and have lost just twice in their previous 23 matches overall at the Stadio Olimpico.

Onto AC Milan, and the visitors extended their unbeaten run in Serie A to three matches following the resumption of the domestic top flight season with a point in a 2-2 draw away from home at SPAL, but they can count themselves fortunate to have taken even a point.

AC Milan found themselves 2-0 down against the second from bottom outfit, and although they saved their blushes with a last-gasp equaliser, even this was courtesy of a SPAL own goal.

The visitors had previously posted back-to-back wins in Serie A with victories over Lecce 4-1 away and a 2-0 home win against an off-colour Roma, but they’re expected to face much tougher opposition in the shape of Lazio this Saturday.

One could also argue that AC Milan have suffered just one defeat out of their last six matches away from home, which was a 4-2 loss in the Milan derby to Inter Milan, with the visitors recording wins at Cagliari, Brescia and the aforementioned Lecce, but these teams have registered a total of just nine home wins between them so far this season.

Lazio look the more likely for the points here, and having won the previous two encounters against AC Milan (both away from home), the hosts appear to hold the upper hand here.
