Sevilla will be looking to not only protect but extend their current unbeaten run in the Spanish top flight when they play host to bottom half outfit, Real Valladolid, at their Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán as the hosts look to cement their top four spot in La Liga.
It’s now eight matches without defeat for Sevilla in La Liga which includes wins against Getafe, Osasuna and Real Betis along with five draws, but by picking up points on a regular and consistent basis this has helped Sevilla into the top four and a four-point cushion above 5th placed Getafe.
Sevilla have also performed on a consistent basis at home this season too as they’ve won 7 and drawn 6 of their 15 matches to date in the Spanish top flight and head into this upcoming clash against Real Valladolid on the back of seven matches without defeat in their own backyard too.
In addition, Sevilla have won each of the previous four meetings on the trot against Real Valladolid, and the hosts look set for a fifth victory on the trot here.
Onto Real Valladolid and the visitors currently occupy a position in the bottom half of La Liga, sitting in 15th place but eight points above the relegation zone, so they should at least avoid a relegation battle in the latter stages of this campaign.
Having managed just one win from their last six matches overall, this is perhaps just as well as they’ve managed just the one victory over second from bottom side, Leganes, during this recent spell.
A fairly average looking away record which reads W4, D4, L8 includes just two wins out of their last 11 matches on their travels which included a previous win at third from bottom outfit, Mallorca, while also failing to score in eight of their 16 away matches so far this season.
The bigger picture shows that Real Valladolid have captured just five away wins from their last 20 outings on the road and together with their recent poor record against Friday’s opponents, Sevilla, the visitors look to have their work well and truly cut out for them here if they’re to avoid a ninth defeat on the road this term.
Sevilla know that all three points in this clash would see them take a big step towards a top four finish and they should achieve this.
