Swansea to boost play-off hopes against struggling Luton
Swansea City vs Luton Town - 27/06/2020
2931
On Saturday morning, Swansea City host Luton Town at the Liberty Stadium, as the home side look to boost their chances of finishing in the Championship play-off spots.
Swansea are just a point outside the play-off spots in one of the closest races for the Championship top-six there has been for years. In fact, only six points separate sixth-place Preston and Derby in 12th. The Swans are in the middle of the pair in ninth-place.
Steve Cooper’s team has been highly inconsistent of late, despite their promising position in the table. Although they are unbeaten in three league matches, they have also recorded just one victory in their last four outings in the Championship.
Despite those unconvincing recent results, the Swans have remained relatively prolific in the second tier, scoring at least two goals in four of their last six league outings.
Similarly to their general league form, the Swans home form has been inconsistent in recent months. The Welsh team have been hard to beat at the Liberty Stadium, losing just once in their previous nine league outings on home soil.
Luton Town have endured a poor campaign in the Championship. The Hatters are rock bottom of the second-tier table after winning just ten of their 38 league games this season. Graeme Jones’ team are five points from safety and look set for a return to League One.
Town head into this clash on the back of a four-game unbeaten run in the Championship, so there may be light at the end of the tunnel for the visitors. However, they have drawn their last three matches, including drawing 1-1 with another play-off spot hunter Preston last time out.
Forebet predicts that Swansea will end Luton’s recent unbeaten run by recording a victory in a low-scoring encounter to boost their play-off hopes.
