Wolfsburg and Bayern to both score in ‘dead rubber’
2823

This weekend sees the conclusion to the German Bundesliga season and the clash between Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich will be between two clubs who are already assured of their respective European spots.

Sixth placed Wolfsburg have secured a place in the Europa League qualifiers and there’s just the matter of holding onto their current position ahead of 7th placed Hoffenheim for the most favourable tie in the qualifiers, and coming into this clash on the back of a resounding 4-1 thrashing of Schalke away from home, Wolfsburg will be in confident mood here.

Overall results in the Bundesliga season run-in have produced a mixed bag of returns but Wolfsburg have done enough by recording wins against Augsburg, Bayer Leverkusen, Werder Bremen and Schalke to earn their European berth.

Regarding this upcoming clash against Bayern Munich, a home win looks unlikely but goals should feature as 10 of Wolfsburg’s 16 home matches have seen both teams score and the hosts will have received a timely boost on the back of the win at Schalke.

Bayern Munich have already been crowned title winners of the Bundesliga again and the visitors will no doubt be keen to put the icing on the proverbial cake by recording a final day win in style at the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA and finish their season in triumphant fashion by winning 13 matches on the trot.

A 3-1 home win against Freiburg not only sealed 12 wins on the trot but also secured  Bayern’s title as the visitors have once again finished head and shoulders above the rest of the German top flight competition.

Having also won their last nine away matches on the trot, it’s hard to see how Bayern Munich can lose this encounter even as they’re away from home and playing a team that has qualified for the early stages of the Europa League, such has been their dominance over the rest of the league.

The odds on an away win are also predictably low but again the goals market beckons here as 9 of Bayern’s 16 away matches have also seen both teams score, and with both teams relaxed and assured of their European places, we could see an exciting and entertaining match unfold here at the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA.

Both teams to score therefore looks likely with Bayern Munich perhaps running out 2-1 winners.
