In Italy on Wednesday night we will see one team lift the Coppa Italia as Napoli and Juventus meet in the final. The match will be contested at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome but there will be no fans allowed inside the venue. Napoli come into the game sitting in 6th place in Serie A while Juventus are leading the way at the top of the table on 63 points.

Napoli met Inter Milan at home in the second leg of their semi-final on Saturday night. Having achieved a 1-0 victory in the first leg of the tie at the San Siro, Napoli were the favourites to progress. However, they found themselves a goal behind early in the game following some poor defending from a corner which saw the ball go directly into the net. An excellent counter-attacking goal scored by Dries Mertens just before half time was enough to see Napoli progress 2-1 on aggregate.

The goal scored by Mertens saw him become the leading goal scorer in the history of the club and he will be hoping to add to his tally in the final.

Napoli entered the 2019/20 Coppa Italia at the round of 16 stage with a match against Perugia. Napoli won the game 2-0 and that set up a meeting with Serie A title challenges Lazio in the quarter-final. Lorenzo Insigne scored after just 2 minutes of the game and that was enough to seal the victory.

Juventus played the second leg of the semi-final on Friday night against AC Milan. Juventus scored a late goal in the first leg at the San Siro to claim a 1-1 draw and secure a valuable away goal. It was that goal which proved crucial in separating the teams as the second leg at the Allianz Stadium ended in a 0-0 draw. It was a disappointing performance by Juventus but it was their first game back in action following the suspension of football in Italy.

Juventus started their 2019/20 Coppa Italia campaign with a home match against Udinese which they won 4-0. The quarter-final paired them with Roma and Juventus raced into a 3-0 lead before half time and ended up winning the game 3-1.

The last time Juventus met Napoli in the Coppa Italia was in 2017 and despite losing 3-2 in Naples, Juventus went through to the final having won the home leg 3-1.

Team news and Napoli will be without their goalkeeper David Ospina who is suspended following his yellow card in the semi-final. That means Alex Meret will take his place in goal. Kostas Manolas and Kevin Malcuit could both return from injury having missed the game on Saturday.

Juventus are without Giorgio Chiellini and Aaron Ramsey due to injury. They are the only absentees for Maurizio Sarri who otherwise has a fully fit squad from which to choose.

Juventus remain the strongest team in Italy and if they perform to their best it is difficult to see any other winner. However, although Napoli have been disappointing in Serie A this season, the team will see this game as the perfect opportunity to salvage something from the campaign.
