Besiktas to boost European hopes against Antalyaspor

On Saturday night, Besiktas host Antalyaspor at Vodafone Park, as the home team look to keep their European hopes alive in the Turkish Super Lig.

Besiktas are currently fifth-place in the Turkish top-flight table, five points outside the top-four which would earn them a spot in the Europa League play-offs.

A recent four-game unbeaten run in the Super Lig has both helped and hindered Sergen Yalcin’s team, as although they have won two of the unbeaten matches, the home side have also drawn two of them. Last time out they drew 0-0 at third-place Galatasaray, which was a respectable result but did not get them closer to the top-four.

The game at least saw the home side keep a clean sheet, which has been rare of late, as it was only their second in 13 league outings.

Besiktas have had an inconsistent recent home record in the Super Lig, but they have recorded victories in three of their last five matches on home soil. However, they have been prolific of late at home in the league, scoring at least two goals in four of their last five matches.

Antalyaspor have moved five points clear of the relegation zone by embarking on an eight-game unbeaten run in the Super Lig. Last time out in the league, the visitors recorded a 1-0 home win over Sivasspor.

Despite their last two league outings being low-scoring, Antalyaspor have been pretty potent of late in the Turkish top-flight, scoring at least twice in five of their last eight outings.

Tamer Tuna’s team also has a solid recent away record in the Super Lig, as they are unbeaten in four matches on their travels.

Forebet predicts that Besiktas will record a victory in a high-scoring encounter to aid their chances of playing European football next season.
