Freiburg will be looking to record their first win since the restart when Borussia Monchengladbach visit the Schwarzwald Stadion on Friday night.

Following draws against RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt and defeats to Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen, Freiburg only managed to take two points from a possible 12 in May.

Christian Streich’s side have slipped to 8th in the table, while hopes securing European football for next season have all but faded.

With seventh-place Hoffenheim four points ahead and ninth-place Hertha Berlin level on 38 points, Freiburg’s promising season is in real danger of imploding if they don’t start winning.

Freiburg have struggled for goals in season. In fact, they have they are the lowest scorers in the top nine, and four teams below them in the table have scored more.

By contrast, Gladbach can’t stop scoring. Only the top three teams have scored more than Marco Rose’s men this season, while just two sides in the division boast a better defensive record.

Gladbach find themselves 4th after going unbeaten in three of their four games since the campaign resumed.

Rose’s side returned with a convincing victory over Eintracht Frankfurt before suffering an unwanted defeat to top-four rivals Bayer Leverkusen.

However, following a goalless draw with a resurgent Werder Bremen, Gladbach returned to winning ways last time out with a 4-1 thrashing of Union Berlin.

A Marcus Thuram double, along with goals from Florian Neuhaus and Alassane Plea, saw Gladbach claim a comfortable victory as they enjoyed the lion’s share of both the possession and the chances.

Thuram also got on the scoresheet in the reverse fixture as Gladbach hammered Freiburg 4-2 earlier in the campaign. Judging by recent results, a similar scoreline could be on the cards this time around.

Looking at the team news, Janik Haberer and Yoric Ravet both missed out for Freiburg last weekend, and it’s unclear whether or not the duo will be fit to play on Friday.

As for Gladbach, their injury list is more substantial. Denis Zakaria, Fabian Johnson, Breel Embolo, Tobia Strobl, and Raffael are all expected to be sidelined for a while.

Borussia Monchengladbach have been in excellent form since the campaign resumed, so Forbet predicts that the away side will keep a clean sheet on their way to victory over Freiburg.
