RB Leipzig continue to blow hot and cold in the Bundesliga. They are coming off of a pulsating 2-2 draw with Hertha Berlin in midweek and now turn attentions toward Koln at the Rhein Energie Stadion.

Koln are winless in their last four matches and coming off of a 3-1 loss away to Hoffenheim in midweek. Markus Gisdol’s team have played well at times since the return from the break but continue to be inconsistent overall.

These clubs have played five times since RB Leipzig reached the Bundesliga in 2016. RB Leipzig have posted a 3W-1D-1L record during that timeframe. Earlier this season, RB Leipzig ran riot on Koln winning 4-1 at home.

Timo Werner and Konrad Laimer scored goals while midfielder Emile Forsberg bagged a brace. Koln’s Rafael Czichos scored in the first half to make things interesting, but it wasn’t enough to power the Goats back.

All five Bundesliga games between Koln and RB Leipzig saw both teams score. Meanwhile, four of those five games ended with over 2.5 goals being scored.

Julian Nagelsmann’s team have recorded 28 points from 42 possible on the road. They are unbeaten in four straight road games with two of those finishing in wins. The Red Bulls have allowed the fewest goals away from home with just 13 conceded.

Despite drawing their last two home matches, Koln have been very good at the Rhein Energie Stadion. Considering the club are in their first season back in the Bundesliga after gaining promotion last season, they have performed well.

Koln have collected 21 points from a possible 42 at home. They have scored 24 times at the Rhein Energie Stadion but have been guilty of allowing too many scores against them. Twenty goals have been struck by away sides. They have conceded two goals in each of their last two home games.

Nagelsmann has several players set to miss the Monday night fixture. Ethan Ampadu, who was so impressive in the Champions League versus Tottenham Hotspur, remains out with a back injury.

Defender Marcel Halstenberg will also miss out on the fixture after being sent off versus Hertha Berlin in midweek. Ibrahima Konate is out with a hamstring injury to further complicate Nagelmann’s defensive issues. In addition, striker Yussef Poulsen will miss the game due to an ankle injury.

Koln’s Sebastiaan Bornauw is suspended for RB Leipzig’s arrival due to receiving his marching orders versus Hoffenheim on Wednesday night.

RB Leipzig may be hot and cold, but they still have the chance to put goals past opponent. Koln have conceded 2.0 goals in each of their last two home games.

Monday night’s game should see RB Leipzig score goals and get a big win to hold onto a top-four place. Expect both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in a shootout at the Rhein Energie Stadion.
