In-form Shakhtyor Soligorsk will be eyeing off another three points when they entertain basement dwellers, Belshina, in Friday evening’s encounter in the Vysshaya Liga at the Stadyen Budaŭnik, as the hosts seek to continue their impressive run of results.
Shakhtyor have won 3 of their last 4 matches in the Belarus top flight having collected victories over Dinamo Brest 2-0 away, a convincing 4-0 home win over Isloch Minsk and last weekend’s solid 2-0 home win over Slavia Mozyr which has helped lift the hosts up into 5th place ahead of this weekend’s action.
A slow start to this new campaign saw Shakhtyor off to a losing start as they suffered 2 defeats in their first 3 league matches on home turf, losing to Torpedo Zhodino and Slutsk which were either side of a 0-0 draw with Neman Grodno.
However, Shakhtyor have since staged a recovery which includes posting back-to-back home wins against the aforementioned Isloch Minsk 4-0 and Slavia 2-0, and the visit of a leaky Belshina outfit represents the perfect opportunity for Shakhtyor to register another three points here.
Onto Belshina then, and the visitors currently sit bottom of the Vysshaya Liga with just 3 points to their name, thanks to three draws to date this season with stalemates against Neman Grodno, Smolevichi and Vitebsk - all of whom also reside in the bottom half of the Vysshaya Liga.
Belshina are still without a win so far in this season’s Belarus top flight campaign and the early warning signs are there for all to see as the visitors have shipped a total of 16 goals to date (equal highest with FC Minsk), while also losing 3 of their 4 away matches as well this term.
Defeats at Torpedo Zhodino 1-0, Slutsk 3-2 and Isloch Minsk 2-1 have contributed to Belshina’s poor start to this new season.
The bigger picture shows that Belshina have now endured a 7-match spell without a win on the road and indeed, have managed to register just 1 win from their last 13 matches on their travels.
9 defeats from these last 13 matches away from home certainly doesn’t bode well for Belshina as they prepare for this difficult looking trip to Shakhtyor, with goals also expected to feature.
